Chief exec of Tourism Society resigns

Carrie England has resigned from her post as chief executive of the Tourism Society.

England, who has been in the role for 12 months, will carry on until the start of September.

She intends to pursue an MBA at a London business school after receiving a “once in a lifetime” opportunity.

Tourism Society chairman David Curtis-Brignell said: “I and the board wish Carrie every success. She has made a number of significant contributions and changes to the operation of the society in the short time she has been in office.”

Brignell said the society would be seeking to find an immediate replacement and looking for an individual confident with handling a high-profile industry role.

England added that a key requirement of the job was being comfortable wearing the many hats necessary to best represent the needs of the society’s 1,200-strong members from the hospitality and travel trade.
