(07 July 2005 00:00)

Culinary legends Albert and Michel Roux walked away with the Special Award at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards, held at the Hilton Metropole in London last Friday. The award marked their significant contribution to British cuisine.

Brett Graham, who recently opened the Ledbury in London's Notting Hill, collected the award for New Restaurant of the Year, while his colleague and mentor, Philip Howard, chef-proprietor of the Square in the city's Mayfair, secured the Restaurant Chef title.

The title of Pub Restaurant Chef of the year went to John Rudden of the White Hart Inn in Lydgate, near Oldham, while Rick Stein's patissier, Stuart Pate, took the Pastry Chef title and Jane Mulholland, who won the Gordon Ramsay 2004 College Scholar and is now chef at Ardilaun House hotel in Galway, was named Young Chef.
