Latest NewsGreenhouse wins first Wine Spectator award for UK(01 September 2005 14:44)London's Greenhouse restaurant is the first UK venue to receive the Wine Spectator's prestigious Grand Award. The annual prize, which is run by the US magazine, honours restaurants around the world for their wine programmes, dinner menus and wine lists. Alongside Mayfair's Greenhouse, this year's winners are New York's Cru, San Francisco's Restaurant Michael Mina and Macao in China's Robuchon a Galera. Greenhouse executive chef Bjorn Van der Horst said: "It's a tremendous honour to have won this award. It shows an enormous amount of work and creativity in the execution of our wine list. One of our biggest goals has been achieved." The Wine Spectator's Grand Award is the magazine's highest accolade rewarding restaurants that show exceptional devotion to quality, harmony with the menu and a minimum of 1,250 selections.
