Compass Group suspends UK boss pending UN corruption probe

Compass Group has suspended UK and Ireland chief executive Peter Harris pending the outcome of a United Nations (UN) investigation into alleged corruption surrounding the awarding of contracts.

A company spokesman said: "The company has decided that Peter Harris, the chief executive of the group's UK and Ireland, Middle East and Africa division, should be suspended. His responsibilities will be taken over by Gary Green, chief executive of the Americas Division, on an interim basis."

Harris took over as boss of the UK and Ireland division from Don Davenport in July. He was formerly chief executive of the group's ESS Support Services, Middle East and Africa division, the group currently helping the UN with its investigations.
