Ayr racecourse hotel sold

The seven-bedroom St Andrews Hotel, close to Ayr Racecourse, has been sold through hotel agents, Christie + Co.

Facilities also include a 32-seat dining room, a lounge bar to seat 50-plus, a public bar to seat 40-plus, and a games room.

Hugh and Isobel Searle have owned the business for 15 years and decided to sell up as they are moving to Canada. The new owners are first-time buyers David and Shonah Gibson.

David Gibson previously worked for Stakis and the couple plan to increase food sales.

Offers in excess of £450,000 were sought for the freehold interest of the hotel and it was sold for an undisclosed sum.
