Ministry of Sound, London

Famous London nightclub, the Ministry of Sound, has become one of the capital’s first venues to be granted a 24-hour drinking licence.

The new licence will enable the South London club to sell alcohol from 10pm to 5am on Fridays and 11pm to 7am on Saturdays.

Previously the bar had to shut at 2am.

Southwark Council said it had received no objections to the club’s licence application, which will come into affect on 24 November.

Ministry of Sound head of promotions Phil Sales said: “At Ministry we always aim to provide our customers with the best - be it music, DJ’s, sound, service and more, therefore getting the 24-hour licence was essential.”

Based in Elephant and Castle, Ministry of Sound is hosting a party in celebration of its new licence on Saturday 26 November and will stay open until 11am the next day.
