Norden Farm swaps in-house catering with Charlton House contract
Independent caterer Charlton House has won a three-year catering contract at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The deal, which will turn over £400,000 per year, started on 1 November and is for the restaurant and café bar. Twelve staff will work on the contract, which was previously run in-house.
Alpha wins £1m airport deal
Alpha Airports Group has won a catering contract at Bulgaria’s Sofia airport. It is believed the five-year deal will turn over more than £1m per year and see 35 Alpha staff work across two units in the airport’s new terminal building when it opens in early 2006.

Harrison Catering has won a one-year rolling contract to provide catering services at mobile phone group Carphone Warehouse. The deal, which started on 7 October, will turn over £1.5m per year. Forty Harrison staff will work across three sites, which include Acton, London, and two in Warrington, Greater Manchester. The deal, which was previously run by Compass Group business and industry division Eurest, will feed up to 3,500 staff across the sites.
Salisbury Cathedral extends Milburns contract
Compass Group leisure division Milburns has extended its contract to provide catering services at Salisbury Cathedral in Wiltshire. The five-year deal will turn over £600,000 per year and see Milburns operate the refectory restaurant and cater for special events. A total of 22 catering staff work at the site.
Everson Hewett wins LogicaCMG contract extension
Compass Group business and industry division Everson Hewett has extended its contract to provide catering services at technology company LogicaCMG. The five-year deal will turn over £1.8m per year. Everson Hewett will manage the group’s catering, hospitality and meeting facilities at two sites in London and one in Reading, Berkshire. Sixteen catering staff will feed up to 2,000 LogicaCMG employees at the sites.
Celtic Catering named fastest growing Welsh company
Independent caterer Celtic Catering has been named one of Wales’s fastest-growing companies for the third year running. The company, which was set up in 2000, has increased turnover by 540% in the past five years. The figure grew from £2.65m in 2003 to more than £3.5m in 2004, with the company now employing 167 staff. The company currently operates 54 contracts, including the Royal Mint, British Intelligence sites and Newport City Council.
