Restaurants at Work takeover

Independent contract caterer Restaurants at Work has been taken over by a six-strong consortium.

The group, headed by former Aramark managing director of specialist markets Wyn Roberts, is believed to have paid between £2.5m and £3m for a stake of between 50% and 60%.

Tjalke Boersma, of Oi Bagel!, will become chairman, while Roberts will take over as chief executive.

The company has 40 business and industry contracts in London and the Home Counties and turns over about £8m a year.

The other four members of the consortium include business development director Chris Durant, who joins from Hopkinson Catering, and financial director Michael Mills, who founded the Slug & Lettuce pub chain.

Restaurants at Work co-founders David Jenkinson and Nick Jones will remain as directors of the company.
