Portuguese hotel group enters London

Portuguese hotel group Pestana has found a site for its first UK property - a €45m (£31m) hotel development in London.

The four-star Pestana London by Chelsea Bridge is due to open in 2008. It will have 198 rooms, 20 penthouses and suites as well as a health club and business centre. The in-house restaurant will serve Portuguese food.

The Pestana group is the biggest hotel group in Portugal with more than 30 four- and five-star owned and managed hotels. It also has properties in Argentina, Brazil, Mozambique, South Africa, Cape Verde and Sao Tome and Principe.
