Clapham House Group today announced a maiden profit for its collection of three restaurant chains.

The owner of the Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Real Greek chains revealed a pre-tax profit of £281,000 for the six months to 30 September 2005. This was up from a loss of £58,000 in 2004.

Turnover for the period also increased, rising from £2.7m in 2004 to £8.6m.

Seven new sites opened during the six months and a further two sites have opened since September taking the total portfolio to 27.

David Page, executive chairman of Clapham House said: “I am delighted that during the six months we have accelerated our opening programme whilst in the same period achieving a maiden profit. The operating profit contribution of our three brands has now overtaken our central and administrative cost.”
