Metropolitan hotel wins Visit London's Large Hotel of the Year Award

Park Lane's Metropolitan hotel has been named Visit London's Large Hotel of the Year 2005, at an awards ceremony held last night at Old Billingsgate market.

The Metropolitan fought off stiff competition from the Renaissance Chancery Court hotel and the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel.

Judges cited the hotel's contemporary feel and highly personal service, combined with loyal staff and Michelin-starred Nobu restaurant, as key reasons for the accolade.

Small Hotel of the Year was awarded to the Halkin hotel in Belgravia, while Bed and Breakfast of the Year went to B&B Belgravia.

The London 2012 Olympic Committee won the Outstanding Achievement award.

A spokesman for awards sponsor Eurostar said: "The winners know what it takes to provide quality to consumers in one of the best cities in the world."
