London's skaters need winter fuel

Ice-skating at Somerset House opened with a flurry of seasonal excitement last weekend as visitors rushed to be the first on the ice. Hungry skaters, no doubt in need of warmth as well as fortification, have also been keen on Tate Catering's food and drink. In just four days, they have managed to get through 2,300 cookies and brownies, 380 pork sandwiches and 230 portions of pumpkin and bean chilli, as well as downing 2,500 servings of mulled wine, and 1,880 coffees and hot chocolates.
