Sodexho cuts 10 jobs
Sodexho has made 10 people redundant from its UK business and industry division. The job losses, which are from senior and junior positions, are part of what the company has called a "strategic review". A Sodexho spokeswoman denied that the measures were designed to cut costs and said: "We have made some changes to the structure of our business and industry division. The new structure will operate through four regions."
Jurys Doyle to open in Brighton
Irish hotel group Jurys Doyle is investing £25m to operate a new three-star hotel in Brighton's New England Quarter. The five-storey, 243-bedroom hotel will be part of a 15-acre mixed-use development. The hotel is due to open in the autumn.

Morgan joins AB HotelsCharles Morgan, former operations director at Hotel du Vin, has been appointed group operations director of AB Hotels. He will now oversee the creation of an 85-bedroom luxury hotel near Marble Arch in London. The hotel is currently in the final planning stages, with work due to start in spring and completion set for early 2007.

Links Country Park hotel sold
The owner of a Spar chain shop in the Leicestershire village of Woodhouse Eaves has bought the Links Country Park hotel in West Runton, Norfolk, for £3m. The 49-bedroom hotel, one of Norfolk's oldest, comes with its own golf course. It is also reputed to be where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes, found the inspiration for his tale The Hound of the Baskervilles. New owner Jay Sutaria, who also owns the Peveril of the Peak hotel at Dovedale, in Derbyshire, said: "Basically, I am a retailer, but the hotel trade is in the family. The golf course at the Links has a lot of potential and the clubhouse is full of character."
Jones and Campbell resign
Spirit chief executive Karen Jones has quit her role following the company's £2.7b takeover by Punch Taverns. Punch said in a statement that Jones had left to pursue other interests. Spirit Group chairman Tony Campbell has also decided to leave the business. Former commercial director Andrew Knight has been appointed managing director of Spirit with immediate effect.
