Legacy hotel group launches
Two former Macdonald Hotel directors have launched a new hotel management company, Legacy Hotels and Resorts.
Five hotels form Legacy's initial portfolio, which has been started by Andy Townsend and Jim Gordon.
Three properties, the Falcon Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, Hotel de la Bere in Cheltenham and the Bramhall County Hotel in Manchester, were previously Corus Hotels.
The company already manages the Chesterfield hotel in Chesterfield and the Oaklands Country House hotel in North East Lincolnshire, which were managed by Country Town Hotels, a division of Macdonald Hotels.
Legacy chief executive Townsend said: "We are creating a dynamic new business that develops the potential of each individual asset while benefiting from the structure and support that a dedicated management company can offer."
He said the company was working on a number of other proposals at properties throughout the UK, with the intention of increasing the portfolio to 12 within the next 18 months.
"We are targeting under-developed off-market properties where the business can be enhanced to build equity value. Our portfolio will be a combination of managed, leased and owned properties, predominantly within the three and four star market" he said.
Townsend was previously managing director of Countrytown Hotels. Gordon has joined as finance director and was commercial director with Macdonald.
