Fourteen pubs with historic significance are being recognised by the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).

The pubs, which have been dubbed "Pubs in Time", will each receive a plaque and a brief synopsis of the historical event said to have occurred within the premises.

Pubs listed include the Angel and Royal in Grantham, Lincolnshire (pictured), where Richard III signed the Duke of Buckingham's death warrant, and the Bell Inn in Stilton, Cambridgeshire, where the famous blue cheese was first sold.

Camra chief executive Mike Benner said: "Hundreds of pubs across the country have a story to tell, and these 14 are only the beginning." Camra's National Pubs Week starts on Saturday (18 February).
