Kent kids given head start in healthy eating(16 February 2006 00:00)Wearing their handmade chef's hats, children at St Joseph's Convent Preparatory School in Gravesend, Kent, had a lesson in healthy food courtesy of Ian Nottage, Craft Guild of Chefs member and executive development chef at ingredient suppliers and "food innovators" Leathams.
Interactive sessions with years one to three were held throughout the day with children taught the importance of a balanced diet before guessing the names of familiar produce such as tomatoes, oranges, apples and potatoes. One pupil commented: "I've tried pineapple and now I'm going to eat it every day." Source: Caterer & Hotelkeeper |
