Chester Boyd wins a royal deal

Upmarket event caterer Chester Boyd has won the contract to cater for Buckingham Palace garden parties.

The five-year deal, which was won from Sodexho, begins in June and will turn over more than £300,000 per year.

About 250 staff will work at the Garden Party events, which take place in June and July and cater for between 5,000 and 7,500 guests. Chester Boyd was chosen from a shortlist of four that did not include Sodexho, who did not re-tender for the deal.

Chester Boyd managing director Charles Boyd said: "We are absolutely delighted with this prestigious and exciting win."

A Buckingham House spokesman said Chester Boyd was chosen for its "competent proposal and good presentation".

Chester Boyd, which has a total of 14 contracts, also caters at the natural history museum and the CBI conference centre.
