Hotels at Heathrow and Gatwick airports saw revenue per available room (revpar) grow by 7.7% during the month of January.

Revpar increased to £55.40, up from £51.44 in January 2005, according to figures from hotel benchmarking service The Bench.

Occupancy rose by 1.3 percentage points to 70.7% while average room rate grew by 5.7% to £78.36, compared with £74.12 in January 2005.

The Bench - which is partnered with US firm Smith Travel Research - provides online benchmarking data for in excess of 34,000 hotels in more than 400 markets.
