A family of West Sussex hoteliers has bought the Grade II-listed Rose and Crown hotel in Haverhill, Suffolk.

The new owners are Richard and Hilary Munnery and their daughter and son-in-law Sean and Charlotte Wright.

Parts of the two-storey hotel, which was built as a coaching inn, date back to the 17th century.

It now offers 10 en-suite bedrooms, a 58-seat main bar with a pool room, and a 150-seat restaurant arranged across three levels that is also used to stage live bands and host civil weddings.

Along with owners’ accommodation comprising one bedroom, a lounge, a kitchen and a bathroom, the property has parking for 90 cars, a rear beer garden and a 32-seat patio beer garden behind the main bar.

The Ipswich office of Christie + Co sold the leasehold for a sum close to the asking price of £179,000 on behalf of Ron Davies and his wife.
