Travelodge trials window transfers to give customers a perfect view

Budget hotel chain Travelodge is trialling window transfers to improve guests' moods with a view.

Guests staying at London City Airport Travelodge can now choose a free window transfer to replace their rainy view of a business park when they check in.

Courtesy of Travelodge, customers should now be able to avoid that gloomy feeling first thing, by waking to a view of the Manhattan skyline or Lake Windermere.

The transfer idea was hit on after Travelodge surveyed 2,500 people to ask them for their favourite views.

Wayne Munnelly, Travelodge sleep director, said: "Ninety-seven per cent of Brits said that a wonderful view makes them feel happier… so we thought it would be a nice idea to give our guests a choice of their favourite view."

If the transfers prove popular Travelodge plans to roll out the service to another six or seven hotels initially.

Brits top 10 favourite views are:

1. Carribean Beach
2. Northern Lights
3. Niagara Falls
4. Blue Skies and Sunshine
5. Lake Windermere
6. Manhattan Skyline
7. Sydney Harbour bridge
8. Ayres Rock, Australia
9. Pyramids and Sphinx, Egypt
10. Taj Mahal, India
