William Cowpe retires from the Goring hotel

William Cowpe, managing director of London's Goring hotel, is stepping down at the end of March after 36 years' service.

Cowpe joined the hotel as a junior assistant manager in the 1970s after starting his career
in the kitchens of London's Savoy hotel.

The 60-year-old, who has also served as general manager at the hotel, will continue to represent the Goring in the USA, speaking at several networking events a year.

Cowpe said he would also look to take on consultancy work within the industry.

Goring general manger David Morgan-Hewitt is expected to take on Cowpe's duties as a new director at the hotel.
