Two Hilton hotels go on the market for £400m

(13 March 2006 10:32)

Two of Hilton Hotel Corporation's (HHC) flagship UK properties have been put on the market for a rumoured £400m.

The 1,054-bedroom London Metropole is the largest business hotel in the UK with 46,000sq ft of conference space.

The 794-bedroom Birmingham Metropole adjoins the National Exhibition Centre and is the UK's largest hotel outside London. It also has extensive conference facilities.

Both properties are up for sale with long-term Hilton management agreements. The freehold is up for grabs on the London Metropole property, while a long lease is being offered on the Birmingham property.

Hotel agent Christie & Co is handling the sale. Managing director Chris Day said: "We anticipate strong interest in these properties from both UK and international investors."
