Carluccio's goes smoke free
Italian-style café chain Carluccio's is to go non-smoking from 3 April this year.
The company said its decision came after the announcement that a nationwide smoking ban in enclosed public places would be introduced in 2007.
Carluccio's said further to this, feedback from staff and customers clearly showed support for a move to smoke-free status.
Many of the company's properties have outdoor terraces where customers will be able to continue smoking.
In a trading statement today, the Alternative Investment Market-listed company said turnover was 21% ahead of the previous year for the 24 weeks to 12 March 2006.
Carluccio's said sales at its newest opening in Brighton had been encouraging and its next Caffé would open in London's Chiswick this May.
It remains on course to open five new sites in its current financial year, with Caffés already launched at London's Westbourne Corner, Oxford Castle and Brighton.
