StarLogics' web-based recipe and menu management system, Starchef.net, takes the guesswork out of recipe costing and menu analysis by providing real-time cost calculation of recipes, menus and menu cycles. Using "menu engineering" software, companies such as Le Pain Quotidien and the Laurel Pub Company are using StarChef to run reports on how well menus are constructed and whether they match budgets. An additional module provides the ability to specify the nutritional value of ingredients and determine whether a recipe is suitable for people with specific dietary requirements.

As the system is hosted, companies can access it from multiple sites through a simple web browser.
