The hotel was due to be completed this summer and a spokesman for Jurys Inn-owner Jurys Doyle said they have yet to work out how much of a delay this event will cause.

The scaffolding collapsed at 12.30pm on Tuesday (11 April) when most of the workers, from the Irish construction firm McAleer and Rushe, were taking lunch. Builders had completed 10 floors out of 15 of the hotel.

High winds have initially been blamed for the collapse but a major accident investigation has been started by the Health and Safety Executive.
