Bournemouth students win Young Guns prize

Two students from Bournemouth University have been chosen as this year's Catering Forum Young Guns.

Nicholas Connolly and Josie Simcox will set sail aboard the cruise ship Aurora for the 2006 Catering Forum on 7 June.

The forum gives the winners the opportunity to meet prospective employers, learn from some of the industry's major players and participate in conference and workshop sessions.

The 10 Young Guns finalists were interviewed by 10 judges at Mosimann's restaurant in London last month.

Chairman of the judging panel and chief executive of Springboard Anne Pierce said: "The panel was seeking the two students who were able to demonstrate true star potential and that little extra something that made them stand out."

Simcox and Connolly said they were "delighted" and "thrilled" to be given the opportunity.

The judges were so impressed by the 10 finalists that they have agreed to be involved in a one-to-one mentoring system with them.
