Croydon and Elephant and Castle future hotel hot spots

Croydon and Elephant and Castle are among future hotel hotspots identified by new research from Visit London.

The capital’s tourist body said regeneration and commercial schemes are driving up the desirability of these areas for hotel operators looking for new sites.

Visit London’s latest Hotel Development Monitor also cites major urban regeneration projects like Battersea Power Station, the O2 on the Greenwich Peninsula and the development around ExCeL, as new opportunities for hotel developers.

James Bidwell, CEO of Visit London said: “London’s map of hotel supply is changing in line with the dramatic regeneration of the city and the spreading of tourism honeypots away from the central areas.

“It is particularly interesting to see 25% of new rooms over the next four years being built in eastern boroughs – areas that are set to blossom in the run-up to, and beyond 2012.”
