Sports Cafe's eighth site in Bristol trading ahead of expectations
Sports Cafe, the owner and operator of the chain under the same name, said that its eighth site, a 14,000sq ft outlet in Bristol, has been trading well and ahead of expectations since its opening at the end of March.
The company, which listed on the Alternative Investment Market in 2001, is now currently developing a site in Cardiff to join sites in London, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and Birmingham.
Since the start of this year, total turnover across the chain is up 36% and like-for-like growth is similar to last year. Gross margins have been maintained at 73%.
The football world cup is expected to provide a boost to the business, which shows a range of UK and international sports on its multiple plasma screens at each venue.
The sites also offer pool tables. Late licences mean that customers range from late-night party goers to office and family functions.
The site in Bristol, for example, has a capacity for 1,000 people, features three bars, 16 pool tables and more than 70 television and plasma screens. It is licensed until 4am.
