One Devonshire Gardens to join Hotel du Vin stable in £9m deal
Scotland is set to get its first Hotel du Vin, after owner Malmaison entered into exclusive talks to buy One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow for about £9m.
The deal is expected to take four to six weeks to complete.
Malmaison chief executive Robert Cook said: "This is an outstanding acquisition. What better way to introduce the brand to Scotland than by having this hotel as its launch pad?"
The five-star, 35-bedroom property, which is spread across four town houses, will be rebranded Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens.
Failed bidders are reported to include the Scotsman Hotel Group, which was bought in February for £60m by MBI International.
Cook said Hotel du Vin would look to boost its presence in Scotland further with a site in Edinburgh and another in either Aberdeen or Inverness.
