Accor to invest €300m in Turkish construction project
Accor will invest €300m (£206.6m) in a massive construction project in Turkey over the next nine years.
The French hotel and leisure group aims to build 50 new hotels in the country by 2015, 12 of which will be completed by 2009.
Turkish construction company Afken have been recruited by Accor to oversee the first phase of the project.
Large cities in Western Turkey, which attract the bulk of foreign tourists, are the locations for most of the properties but some will be built in South-eastern regions including Gaziantep and Sanliurfa on the Syrian border.
Turkey welcomed around 20.5 million visitors last year, with Turkey's Aegean and Mediterranean coasts being the most popular holiday destinations.
Accor has estimated that 3,500 jobs will be created by the projects.
