Zinc Bar and Grill to pilot new look at Manchester site
Zinc Bar and Grill will undergo a complete transformation, starting this summer, under the new ownership of Bank Restaurant Group.
The group bought Zinc from Conran Restaurants in a deal worth £4m last November and plans to expand Zinc from its current five units into a fully-fledged national chain.
A sixth Zinc, which will open in Manchester's Old Trafford Centre in September, will be the first "modernised" offering.
Manchester will have a showpiece bar at its centre, "warmer" colours and more comfortable materials for furniture, in order to move it away from the chain's current "austere" image.
Chairman Robert Breare said: "We plan to refurbish our London Heddon St site during October and will then attend to the remaining sites."
Breare said he intended to even out the chain's food-to-drink balance. Turnover is currently wet-led.
The company is also looking for new opportunities to expand its three-strong Bank restaurant business.
