Online booking agent Active Hotels has joined forces with the AA to provide real-time reservations on its website for the first time.

The AA website, which lists more than 8,000 places to stay in the UK, features some 2,000 operators that are also represented by Active Hotels.

In a “mutually beneficial” arrangement, Active has agreed to provide these 2,000 “cross-over” members with real-time booking services through the AA website.

As well as greater control over bookings, AA members will benefit from the extra search traffic that Active’s online presence provides.

Active Hotels in turn will invite members of the AA to register with it at activehotels.com.

Coming full circle, the AA will also approach Active’s members about signing up to their inspection scheme.

Albert Hampson, business manager for hotel services at the AA, said Active’s expertise in the hotel market would help to expand the company’s reach.

“Active Hotels was our partner of choice due to their extensive experience in the UK hotel market and flexibility of approach,” he said.

Active Hotels is part of Priceline.com and together represents more than 22,000 hotels in 40 European countries.
