£145m Trocadero redevelopment plans submitted to council

A planning application for the £145m redevelopment of the London Trocadero has been submitted by owner Golfrate to Westminster City Council.

Golfrate plans to completely overhaul the London landmark and has agreed a deal with French hotel giant Accor to construct a 600-bedroom Ibis hotel as a centre point of the scheme.

A decision from the council's planning department is expected in October of this year.
If successful, Ibis Piccadilly will occupy the currently vacant 3rd to 8th floors of the Trocadero.

The development of what will be Accor's flagship European Ibis hotel will take place as part of phase one of the redevelopment, which is due to complete in 2011. The first phase will also see several new bars and restaurants opened in the centre.

Golfrate said the hotel, which should create 120 jobs, would provide affordable, yet quality, accommodation ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
