I'd like to become a barista as I have a real love of coffee. Are there any training programmes out there that you could recommend?

Not many colleges at the moment offer this training. It is on the increase, however.

Many of the good coffee companies offer in-house training and even have their own training suites where you will be sent to learn how to make the perfect coffee that helps to start so many people's day. The Training School at ExCel, east London, offers a good one- or two-day programme for people about to start in the industry.

Remember also that your customer service skills are important in this profession, as it's not all about the coffee.
