Barton Meat Company launches bespoke butchers operation for hospitality sector

Barton Meat Company, part of foodservice company 3663, has opened what it claims is the largest butchers operation for caterers in the UK in Gorton, Greater Manchester.

The £5.5m facility - which opened on 5 July - will have the ability to supply the hospitality industry throughout the UK through a distribution tie up with parent company 3663.

It will also run a series of training programmes at its new flagship site, including a meat appreciation programme and lamb cutting and steak experience.

Barton Meat Company senior business operations director, Glenn Eastwood, said: "We are now working to develop the factory into a central production facility, which will supply both 3663 and our other depots in Northampton and London with agreed specified cuts and further processed lines."

Deputy Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Glynn Evans, attended the flagship launch.

He said: "I welcome such a high level of inward investment in what was once an industrious and highly productive area of Manchester".

The site offers both an EEC licence and BRC (British Retail Consortium) standard.
