Wetherspoon's opens stand-alone coffee shop

Traditional British boozers might become more like coffee shops if a move by operator JD Wetherspoon catches on. Its pub the Capitol in Forest Hill, South-east London, has opened a coffee shop. The shop (left) is open from 7am in the week, two hours before the pub. Capitol manager Ripon Kazi said: "We are certain that people in Forest Hill will welcome the chance to break for a cup of coffee on their way to work." Wetherspoon's has licensed its 650-strong estate from 9am to drive coffee and breakfast sales.
