Malmaison's Sean Wheeler scoops two HCPTA awards

Sean Wheeler, director of people development at the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin boutique chains, has won an unprecedented two awards from the Hotel and Catering Personnel and Training Association (HCPTA).

The HCPTA, a forum for human resource and training specialists in the hotel and catering trade, held its 12th annual Awards for Excellence at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in London last week.

The other winners were:

  • Excellence by an Operations/Line Manager who has made a significant contribution to HR: John Wood, culinary director of the five-star Grove country house hotel near Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire
  • Excellence in Establishing Links with Schools, Colleges and Universities: Jo Simpson, area resourcing manager, and her team at InterContinental Hotels Group
  • HCPTA Rising Star Award: Jon Reed, training co-ordinator at Learnpurple.

Each winner was presented with a star-shaped Tiffany trophy and a £500 cheque
