Coconut water is described as a natural, isotonic drink and is said to be higher in potassium than a banana, rich in manganese and calcium hydrates but low in sodium. It contains as little as a fifth of the sugar in many sports energy drinks, is virtually fat-free and contains no cholesterol. It has a shelf life of nine months.
