Hereford hotel and riverside leisure centre for sale
An opportunity to snap up a riverside leisure and conference complex in the heart of Hereford and a nearby townhouse hotel has come to the market.
Owners Dr Albert and Monique Heijn have instructed the Bristol office of Christie + Co to seek offers of £4.95m for the Left Bank development and £1.3m for the award-winning Castle House hotel. The properties can be sold separately or as a package.
The Left Bank is part of the prestigious Left Bank Village development next to the Wye Bridge and near Hereford Cathedral.
It comprises a mix of bars, restaurants and banqueting facilites across three floors, a central piazza (Kate's Square), an adjacent wedding venue and conference centre called the Warehouse, and a separate staff house.
The main dining and banqueting complex comprises the Floodgates Brasserie on the ground floor, the River Terrace above, and Charles Bar on the second floor.
Floodgates incorporates a 60-seat brasserie bar/dining area, an 80-seat brasserie restaurant, a 30-seat private diners' party room, and a 70-seat riverside terrace.
Charles Bar has a 40-seat bar with seating for 60 on the terrace.
The River Terrace offers a conference or banqueting room for 120 guests (or 180 standing), a 30-seat buffet room and bar, and a riverside terrace that can seat 60 or accommodate 120 people standing.
Just a few minutes walk away is the Castle House hotel, a Georgian townhouse that was the AA Hotel of the Year in 2001 and holds three AA red stars, three rosettes, and Ribbon and Dining Awards from the RAC.
It provides 15 bedrooms and suites, a 22-seat cocktail bar, a 36-seat restaurant and a 12-seat lounge.
The landscaped gardens and terraces border the moat of the old city castle and a single-storey extension that is currently used for storage and staff rooms could be converted back into a managers' apartment under new owners.
