LACA set to air new TV ad
A television advert by the Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA) will air for the first time on Monday 11 September. The two-week campaign, which is believed to have cost about £120,000, aims to reverse falling uptake by “improving perceptions that have prevailed among parents since the Jamie Oliver programmes”. Hereford Racecourse signs new three-year deal
Lindley Catering and Heathcotes Outside has won a three-year deal to run the fine dining and corporate hospitality catering at Hereford Racecourse in Herefordshire. The contract, which will turn over about £330,000 per year, will see Lindley at Heathcotes cater for up to 1,000 people on race days in three restaurants. It was previously run by Compass Group leisure division Letherby and Christopher.

ESS wins British Army contract
Compass Group defence support division ESS has won a six-and-a-half-year contract to provide support services to the 4th Division of the British Army in Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The contract will see 468 staff provide catering and support services, including window cleaning, laundry and dry cleaning and waste management, to 8,000 military and civilian personnel. The contract, which was previously run by four different groups – Aramark, ISS Mediclean, ESS and an in-house department – will turn over about £11m a year.

Smith & Nephew extends Sodexho deal
Sodexho has won a three-year contract extension to provide catering and support services to global medical devices company Smith & Nephew at its head office in Hull, Humberside. The contract, which will have a turnover of £700,000 a year, will see 61 staff catering for 1,000 Smith & Nephew employees.

Five-year deal for 60 schools in Bromley, London with an annual turnover of about £2.2m
Five-year contract for 13 secondary schools in West Sussex with an annual turnover of about £1.6m
Three-year deal at Bottisham village school in Cambridge, with an annual turnover of about £210,000
Three-year deal at the Harris Academy in Merton, London, with an annual turnover of about £150,000

Independent schools
Deals worth a combined total turnover of £3m at the following schools:
Newcastle School for Boys
Thornegrove School, Newbury, Berkshire
Bishopstrow College, Warminster, Wiltshire
Rosemead School, Dulwich, London
St James’ School in West London

Higher education
Three-year contract at the University of Bradford, which turns over £900,000 per year
Five-year deal at Dartington College of Arts, Devon, which turns over £170,000 per year
Seven-year deal at the University of Bedford, which turns over £550,000 per year
Five-year deal at Holborn College, London, which turns over £170,000 per year
Seven-year deal at University of Nottingham’s Sutton Bonington campus, which turns over £850,000
