Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong gets Fu Shen Back
Lucky charm… Mandarin Oriental has reopened its 43-year-old Hong Kong flagship hotel after a nine-month, $140m (£75m) face-lift.
The hotel has reopened with 100 rooms, which will gradually rise to 502 by the end of the year.
At the opening ceremony last week, general manager Peter French placed the hotel's Fu Shen - the Chinese god of happiness and beneficence - back in the lobby, where it is said to have brought good fortune for 40 years.
