Conran Restaurant Group set to open at London's Royal Festival Hall

Conran Restaurant Group is launching a new venture at the revamped Royal Festival Hall at London's South Bank, which is set to open next June.

The 240-cover eatery, which is yet to be named, will include a restaurant, brasserie and central bar area and will serve modern seasonal Great British food.

Its look, which is being developed by design and architecture consultancy Conran & Partners, will reflect the original 1950s style of the property with the restaurant featuring an "elegant yet informal setting" and the brasserie comprising a bar and grill.

The refurbishment will start early in January.

Last month Conran's senior management team completed a buyout of the business.

The new restaurant group - which will be renamed shortly - is expected to try to build on the success it enjoyed at the Great Eastern hotel and develop other hotels' food and beverage operations.
