Italian chocolate maker, Amadei, has been awarded three gold medals at this year’s Academy of Chocolate Awards.

The Tuscan chocolate house’s coverture is used in many of the UK’s leading restaurants, including London’s Locanda Locatelli.

Its three winning products were Amedei Chuao, Amedei Porcelana and Amedei Toscano Black 70%.

Other covertures that carried off golden honours included Araguani and Maralumi from, respectively, French-based companies Valrhona and Michel Cluizel.

Richmond-based chocolatier William Curley also won a clutch of gold and silver medals for his hand-made chocolates, including gold for ones filled with Amedei Chuao and szechuan pepper.

The work of newcomer Paul Wayne Gregory, whose work was exhibited at this year’s Chef Conference Market Place, was also recognised with a gold medal for his passion-fruit bonbon and silvers for two further fillings.
