Roux Scholarship 2007 now open for entries
This year's Roux Scholarship launched today and is now open for entries.
Chef and food writer Charles Campion has been seconded to the competition's panel this year as a guest judge. He will join Heston Blumenthal, Brian Turner, Gary Rhodes, David Nicholls, Andrew Fairlie and the Roux family in the form of Albert, Michel, Alain and Michel Jnr.
2006 winner Pravin Sharma said of his scholarship: "This is the best thing I have done in my whole career," adding this year's contenders should hone their offal skills, as the first round will involve creating a dish using veal kidneys.
As well as a £3,000 cash prize, the 2007 Roux Scholar will have a three month stage at a Michelin-starred property organised by the Savoy Educational Trust, as well as trips to Italy courtesy of L'Unico, Champagne from Champagne Gosset and a week in New York with Restaurant Associates.
For more information or to enter visit www.rouxscholarship.co.uk. Closing date for entries is 15 January 2007.
