New WTTC chairman announced

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has appointed a new chief executive and chairman to take over from Vincent Wolfington, whose two-year tenure is coming to an end.

Geoffrey Kent, founder, chairman and chief executive of luxury travel agent Abercrombie & Kent will take over the role on 1 January. He said it was an honour and a privilege to be elected.

He added: "I look forward to building on Mr Wolfington's successful tenure to drive this council even further towards fulfilling its mission and accomplishing the many aims and aspirations that we, as members, hold."

Wolfington said of the appointment: "His leadership and extraordinary lifetime of experience, innovation and genuine passion for the industry will help WTTC attain a higher level of recognition for the travel and tourism industry."
