British Hospitality Association chief executive Bob Cotton has been elected to the International Hotel & Restaurant Association's (IH&RA) new board of directors.

Cotton was elected to the IH&RA's new board, which comes into effect tomorrow (1 November), at its annual general assembly in Nice this weekend.

The association has also appointed a new president, Cham Palaces & Hotels's president Dr Ghassan Aïdi, who takes over from Dieter Huckestein, president and chief executive of Yellowstone Club World.

Aïdi said: "I embrace the challenge and privilege of being IH&RA president and look forward to serving IH&RA members worldwide."

The IH&RA is a network of hotel and restaurant chains and associations in more than 100 countries. Its remit is to promote, protect and inform the hospitality industry worldwide.
