Strong European performance boosts growth for Orient-Express
A strong performance in Europe has helped Orient-Express Hotels boost third-quarter turnover and profit.
In Europe, Orient-Express said all its hotels in the region had increased sales, with turnover up 15% to $72.6m (£38m).
Overall, the company, which owns and manages 49 hotel, restaurant, tourist train and river cruise properties around the world, saw third-quarter turnover increase 13.7% to $150.5m (£78.8m).
Pre-tax profit increased 11.3% year-on-year to $25.7m (£13.5m).
During the quarter the company added six Asian properties (formerly Pansea) to the group. The company is also chasing new properties in the USA, Brazil and Europe.
A decision on Orient's bid for the Cataratas hotel in Brazil, which is under auction, is expected before the year-end.
