More than 100 workers sacked by in-flight caterer Gate Gourmet are to fight for compensation, reports the BBC News website.

They were among 667 workers sacked in August 2005 after an unofficial protest at Heathrow airport sparked by a pay row.

The messy dispute made national headlines and caused travel chaos at London’s Heathrow airport, hurting airline and customer BA’s profits.

Although a settlement was reached around 140 former employees are suing the company for unfair dismissal.

An employment tribunal in Reading is set to hear submissions from both sides before deciding whether to proceed with individual claims.
