The Food & Drink Group completes transformation to bar business

Henry J Beans owner The Food & Drink Group has sold of its last restaurant for £1.2m.

The cash sale of Canyon in Richmond will bookmark the company's transformation, which began with its name change from the Hartford Group in January of this year, when it completes on 2 January 2007.

Founded as a restaurant group in 1998 with high-profile eateries Pharmacy and Dakota, it started to reposition itself in 2002 with the purchase of wine bar group Jamies.

Last September it bought the then five-strong Henry J Beans bar and grill business for £5.8m.

The group has also disposed of a site in London's Camden for £200,000.
