London saw the highest growth in sales, occupancy and rate during November compared with ten leading European cities, according to market monitor TRI Hospitality Consulting.

The monthly Hotstats figures for November show London hotels enjoyed a 17.4% growth in revenue per available room (revpar) at €184.56 (£125.58), compared with Moscow in second place at €144.23 (£97).

London’s average room rate was also ahead of Moscow’s €200.27 (£135.18), at €208.52 (£140.74) – the only two cities to break the €200 barrier.

In occupancy terms, London again came out on top with 88.5%, ahead of the next strongest city Amsterdam at 87.1%.

David Bailey, managing director of TRI, said: “London had a strong November with both occupancy and rate improving that has helped it move even further ahead of its European rivals in revpar terms.”

However London remained behind both Berlin and Hamburg, fuelled by the positive effects of last summer’s Football World Cup, for 2006 as a whole.

Leading German cities have since continued to show strong revpar growth, with Berlin and Hamburg seeing the strongest increases.
